(1) The maximum power consumed by the centrifuge is used as a reference for selecting the motor, but it is not completely considered according to the maximum power, allowing the selected motor to have a short-term partial overload during operation, and its "overload rate" (ie, exceeding the rated power of the motor) The magnitude of the overload portion as a percentage of the rating depends on the percentage of time that the overload accounts for one operating cycle. If the percentage of time is low, the overload rate of the motor can be allowed to be appropriately higher; otherwise, the overload rate should be limited to a lower limit. The overload rate can generally be 20%-50%.
(2) According to the starting condition of the centrifuge, from the perspective of motor performance, it is better to use a special motor with a large starting torque, such as a slip ring motor or a wound rotor motor, but the price is more expensive than the general three-phase (Squirrel-cage type) induction motors are 40% higher, so this method is usually not used.
(3) Still use an inexpensive three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor, but at the same time take measures to solve the problem of motor overload when the centrifuge starts, such as using a centrifugal friction clutch or a hydraulic coupling, the latter of which has better performance. It is more suitable for occasions with explosion-proof requirements. The centrifugal friction clutch drives the pulley by the mechanical friction of the friction plate, and the hydraulic coupling drives the rotating drum by the liquid to drive the rotating drum. Their function can make the centrifuge start slowly, which can extend the starting time and avoid the unreasonable selection of the motor with excessive power due to the difficulty of starting the centrifuge. At the same time, the start of the centrifuge is relatively stable, which can prevent the starting torque from being too large. Excessive overload of the motor. When the centrifuge is overloaded and the motor cannot withstand, the friction plate and the inner wall of the pulley automatically slip, or the liquid between the pump wheel and the turbine automatically slips, thereby effectively protecting the motor.
