The world's chemical fertilizers have grown to high concentration, compound, and slow/controlled release. However, China's fertilizer production is still dominated by low concentrations and single nutrient elements. The total annual consumption of chemical fertilizers in China amounts to more than 41 million tons (pure nutrients), ranking first in the world; but nitrogen fertilizers have serious losses in the field. The utilization rate in the current season is only 35%-40%, which is 15%-20% lower than that in developed countries. . Agronomic measures have a certain effect on improving the utilization of nitrogen fertilizer, but cannot solve the fundamental problem.
There are fertilizers that use physical, chemical, and biological means to slowly release fertilizer nutrients, which are called slow/controlled release fertilizers. Slow/controlled release fertilizers are of good quality and low price, and are closely related to controlled release materials. At present, the coated slow-release control fertilizer developed at home and abroad can make the crop absorb its nutrients better, but it is expensive. Scientists from the Soil and Fertilizer Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Institute of Atomic Energy and Hunan Agricultural University used chemical and physical micro-emulsification and high-shear techniques to develop and produce nano-sized cement coating agents with sustained-release properties. Experts believe that this achievement is the first of its kind at home and abroad. This achievement adopts the "different speed change" technology to produce "mixed cement-enveloped slow- and controlled-release special fertilizers for crops", so that the release rate of nutrients is basically in line with the needs of fertilizers during the crop growth period. They have designed a full set of processes and equipment for the “Nano-material-coated and slow-release/controlled-release fertilizers” with independent intellectual property rights. The technology is advanced, the equipment is easy to operate, the production cost is low, and there is a broad prospect for popularization and application. It is an original technology and has reached the international advanced level.
The diameter of the micelles of nano-fertilizers is within 100 nanometers. The small size effect of nanomaterials can make the fertilizer particles have a magnetic effect, so that fertilizer nutrients are more easily absorbed by plants and effectively stimulate plant growth. Applying nanomaterials to conventional fertilizers can produce slower/controlled release fertilizers that are superior to conventional coated materials. Only one application of base fertilizer is required before planting in the plowing field. Fertilizer nutrients can be slowly released in the soil and the fertilizer effect can reach several months, which can meet the nutrient requirements of the crop during different growth periods. This special slow/controlled release fertilizer has a total effective nutrient content of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium of >30%, and an organic matter content of about 40%. Through field biological experiments, it can increase the yield of rice, corn, wheat and vegetables by 7%-40%, and increase the nitrogen fertilizer utilization rate by 13%-20%. It belongs to "environmentally friendly fertilizers" - it is non-toxic to crops; it can greatly reduce the pollution of fertilizers to soil and groundwater, and reduce the nitrate content in vegetables by 80% - 90%; it also makes sugar and vegetables and fruits Vitamin C content increased significantly. The Elizabeth melon, which was used in the demonstration of nano fertilizer production in Baodi District of Tianjin, has a melon shape, color, texture, and a good taste. It was marketed early; in each season, it was 1600 yuan more than Elizabeth melon with ordinary compound fertilizer. The price of nano-fertilizer is not expensive, and it is almost the same as the compound fertilizer with the same nutrient content on the market.
