BESTCOLOR Digital Proofing Technology

BESTCOLOR is a new digital proofing software developed by Germany BEST Ltd., aiming to replace the traditional offset proofing. If the color proofing machine uses this software, plus ICC color management technology and RIP technology, the print quality will be greatly improved, and the color adjustment will be more scientific and flexible. In the end, the print proofs will be able to completely simulate the offset printing proofs.
Below, let us examine the superiority of the software. First, an IT8 file containing standard color information is needed. Through the process flow shown in Figure 1, the IT8 file can be proofed or printed using conventional methods. Through spectrophotometer and software testing, a profile file (referred to as a reference profile) that reflects the characteristics of the printing process is obtained. Similarly, using this IT8 file, a digital proofing sample of an IT8 file was printed using BESTColor digital proofing software and a color printer. Through spectrophotometer and software testing, a profile file (referred to as a paper profile) reflecting the characteristics of a color printer and print paper can be obtained. Place these two profile files into BESTColor digital proofing software. After compiling, you can print proofs that are very close to offset prints. In principle, the above principle can simulate any printing method, paper and material.

In order to make this simulation more accurate, the following factors must be considered:
1. Profile contains the definition of all the parameters related to it. Therefore, changing the parameters will affect the simulation results, especially the ink color, paper, network cable, ink expansion of the dot, coating and lamination after printing.
2. In order to simulate the machine's color range as finely as possible, the color range of the inkjet printer involved in the simulation is wider than the color range of the printing machine. This color range is determined by the ink, especially the paper factor.
Experiments have shown that the color range of an offset press is usually much wider. BESTColor digital proofing software runs on the Windows 95/98/NT operating platform with powerful extensions. Jobs on Mac, PC, and UNIX (TIFF, EPS, PDF, Delta list, PS, etc.) can be accessed through the Internet. This type of connection is printed on the printer and can be printed while RIP. Its spot color processing, imposition, pre-printed results, and monochrome printing are all useful.
Based on the use of the ICC profile, BESTColor can do Y, M, C, K, light red and light blue level adjustments to the print results to ensure that the printout is exactly the same as the offset.
The core of digital proofing technology is to establish an accurate reference profile file. The accurate reference profile file is based on the standardized management of equipment, materials, and operations in the entire plate printing process. The detailed content is shown in Figure 2. . Whether or not standardized management is really effective can be verified by digital proofing technology. Because the output of the inkjet printer is very stable, it can be used as a "ruler" to "measure" the quality of printed products to check whether the plate making and printing processes are in a good state of operation. On the other hand, in the design and production stage, the printing effect can be examined through digital proofing, and the best design effect can be obtained with the fastest speed and the least cost.
