3.2 Comparison of drop test between foam plastic and cushion cushion
Drop test is a kind of simulation used to simulate the impact of the product-package system in the logistics process. During the test, the package fell from a certain height without damaging the internal product, that is to fall down without exceeding the fragile value, so as to ensure that the protection function of the package against the product is not destroyed.
Using the Y5212II/ZF drop tester, acceleration sensor, YE5850 charge amplifier and data acquisition and analysis system, the six faces of the package were tested for drop heights of 460mm in order, and the corresponding peak acceleration values ​​were collected.
The test results are shown in Figure 6:
Compared with foam, the peak acceleration of the air cushion is obviously smaller, which shows that the air cushion's anti-drop performance is better than that of foam plastic, which plays a very good protective role for the product.
According to the relevant standards, a drop test of one corner and three edges of the package was also performed. As the customer did not do this, the test was not conducted.
4 Conclusion
4.1 Benefits
(1) The air cushion is similar to a tangential cushioning material and can be compared with a linear elastic material.
(2) The cushioning effect of the air cushion shows different cushioning effects depending on the size of the monomer and the amount of inflation.
(3) The use of air cushions for vibration and drop tests, compared with foam, has its own unique advantages, and has a good resilience, with an ideal buffer effect.
(4) As a whole, the price is low and the production is simple. It is very suitable for the buffer packaging of small and medium-sized products and can partially or completely replace the foam plastic.
(5) The air cushion occupies a small space and is only inflated when it is needed for packaging, which saves a lot of storage space than foam.
At present, Japan has entered the industrial production of air cushions, and Taiwan also has related equipment for producing air cushions. In the near future, the air buffer will become a major highlight of the buffer packaging technology, and it should be brought to China's attention and quickly applied.
4.2 Problems and Insufficiency
(1) A variety of related materials should be tested extensively. For example, composite materials such as nylon are used for buffer packaging test analysis. Certainly, the properties of various materials are superior to those used for the tests.
(2) It is necessary to further determine the relationship between the gas pressure and the monomer K value.
(3) Exploration of industrial production.
(4) Due to the size of the outer box, the thickness of the cushion is too small, which makes the design difficult.
