How long is the service life of carbonated beverage glass bottles?

Carbonated beverage packaging is the top decisive for glass bottles because they are transparent, intuitive, chemically stable, environmentally friendly and reusable. In spite of this, over the years, carbonated beverage bottles have only one industry standard. This industry standard is issued by the China Light Industry Association on October 24, 1995 and implemented on June 1, 1996. QB2142-95 has been in existence for more than eight years.

The industry standards for carbonated beverage bottles are compared with national standards for beer bottles. The two standards stipulate the same test methods for the physical and chemical properties of glass bottles, such as internal pressure resistance, internal stress, and impact resistance, which are related to consumers' personal safety, but for carbonated beverage bottles. The term of use is not specified. If internal pressure is in accordance with the provisions of GB4546, the requirements for superior products are ≥ 1.6MPa, for first-class products, ≥ 1.4MPa, for qualified products, ≥ 1.2MPa, and for impact resistance according to GB6552. The requirements for superior beer bottles shall be ≥0.8J, the requirements for first-class goods shall be ≥0.7J, and the requirements for qualified products shall be ≥0.6J. The requirements for superior carbonated beverage bottles shall be ≥ 0.6J, the requirements for first-class products shall be ≥ 0.4J, the requirements for qualified products shall be ≥ 0.2J, and the internal stresses shall be in accordance with the provisions of GB4545. The requirements for beer bottles are all 44 and the qualified products for carbonated beverage bottles are 44. The requirements for premium products and first-class products for carbonated beverage bottles are 43.

According to the survey, a large part of the carbonated beverage bottles used by a large beverage manufacturing company in the south were produced during the 1980s. Bottles of glass bottles have become rough and obscure due to too many repetitions. This situation occurs because the current industry standard for carbonated beverage bottles does not specify its useful life.

Although glass bottles can be reused, they cannot be reused for an unlimited number of times. According to international practice, reusable glass bottles are generally limited to 7 uses.
