Fun packing material, BEKUM extrusion blow molding technology do it!

As a leading supplier of extrusion blow molding equipment, BEKUM has been dedicated to researching machine and system solutions to help customers produce plastic bottles, containers, cans, and barrels in an economical and environmentally friendly manner.

Recently, BEKUM has launched a series of innovative solutions to meet the current needs of how to newly blow-out EPET IV materials with fully transparent EPET packaging, processed calcium carbonate (chalk), and resource-saving material recycling. Market demand.

The fully transparent EPET class IV material is a new material of recent interest in the packaging industry. This material has sufficient extrusion blow-molding stability. The performance parameters of the improved class IV material are higher than the 1.0 PET recycled material introduced on the market.

High-quality EPET class IV materials fully address the common challenges encountered in the PET blow molding process. EPET IV has a high abrasion resistance, the material can be completely melted in the extrusion device, will not produce greater wear.

For machines, special requirements must be met to achieve robust, reliable, fully automated production requirements in the 3-layer process.

BEKUM's blow molding machines (such as HYBLOW 407 D) are specifically designed for high performance in these demanding PET applications. The use of HYBLOW 407 D can reliably produce PET bottles with integrated flash removal and bottle guide conveyors.

The current 07 series machine uses a C-frame clamping device (patented by BEKUM) and is particularly suitable for PET processing because of its high clamping force per cavity, uniform force distribution and extremely fast lift speed.

Flexible multi-layer co-extrusion, effectively reducing material costs

To reduce material costs, packaging manufacturers can take two approaches. Calcium carbonate (CaCO3 = chalk) is used, as well as recycled materials as an intermediate layer replacement material.

BEKUM's field-proven multi-layer co-extrusion technology has the required flexibility and also has advantages when using two material strategies. Even chalk can be used in combination with PCR material as an intermediate layer, and BEKUM has succeeded.

The use of recycled materials (PCR = recycled consumer products) as an alternative to the middle layer is another ideal solution. BEKUM's three-layer extrusion technology is an appropriate solution for the smooth and efficient production of multilayer systems. Using this technology it is possible to use inexpensive, recycled polymers (old plastics) and to be able to solve the different rheological properties between the new material layers during processing.

BEKUM has demonstrated this solution at K 2016. At the show site, BEKUM's new electric blow molding machine, EBLOW 37, produces a three-layer, 20-liter drum of composite material layers formed from chalk and PCR. The output was 240/hr (net weight 918 g, gross weight 1188 g) and flash scrap was 23%.

For packaging manufacturers, the potential savings are huge. The 100% of flash scrap generated in the production process is reused in the production process. In addition, 20% of HDPE new material can be replaced with cheap chalk composite materials. There are also advantages when adding colorants. The proportion of 2% pigment in a monolayer design can be reduced to 0.5%. More expensive pigments (masterbatches) only need to be used for the outer layer. The invisible core no longer needs coloring.

High-tech auger blow molding head for high extrusion quality At Interpack 2017, BEKUM also focused on the technology of auger blow moulding head technology.

The unique spiral distributor blow moulding head allows a very uniform wall thickness distribution of the preform and finished product. This way packaging manufacturers have great potential for optimizing the quality of single-layer preforms. However, BEKUM's auger blow moulding heads have an advantage in multilayer construction. It is more user-friendly to operate, and the operator can easily adjust the head from the front of the machine. In addition, the head is designed to quickly change colors compared to conventional designs.

With the screw feeder head technology, materials used for cleaning can also be significantly reduced.

The compact design of the auger blow moulding head is another advantage. Their surface area is small because the energy needed for heating is greatly reduced.

In short, BEKUM's high-tech auger blow molding head provides package manufacturers with solutions that improve product quality, save time and costs, and increase overall value added.
