Four kinds of "adhesive formula" commonly used in flexible packaging

Commonly used compound adhesives for flexible packaging: one is aluminum foil compound adhesive, the second is aluminum-plastic compound adhesive, the third is water-based paper-plastic compound adhesive, and the fourth is pure solution polyvinyl chloride adhesive. In order to further illustrate the above-mentioned adhesive, the purpose, formulation, component adjustment, and preparation method are briefly introduced.

1. Formula design of environmentally friendly aluminum foil compound adhesive

(VAC) vinyl acetate vinegar 23.57%

(BA) Butyl acrylate 4.71%

(AA) acrylic acid 0.34%

(PVA1799) Polyvinyl alcohol 4.71%

(APS) Ammonium persulfate 0.12%

(Emulsifier OP) Polyethylene glycol octyl phenyl ether 0.79%

(SDS) sodium dodecyl sulfate 0.4%

(DBP) Dibutyl phthalate 2.36%

(TDP) Tributyl phosphate 0.16%

62.84% water

Component adjustment

Monomer composition: In the composition of this product, acrylic acid and butyl ester together account for about 15% of the total amount of comonomers, which improves the adhesion of the emulsion and the flexibility of the film. The introduction of acrylic acid can improve the stability of emulsion polymerization, improve the adhesion of the emulsion and the adhesion to the metal, but if the amount is too large, the water resistance of the film decreases, and the decomposition rate of the initiator is too fast, which hinders the copolymerization reaction. Normally, the amount of acrylic acid added is generally controlled at about 1.5 of the total monomer.

Effect of polyvinyl alcohol: This material is used as a protective colloid of copolymerized emulsion, and its degree of polymerization, solubility and amount have an effect on the viscosity of the emulsion. 17-99 polyvinyl alcohol is selected, and the viscosity of the emulsion increases with the increase of its amount, which usually accounts for 5.5% of the total, and the viscosity produced is more suitable.

Polyethylene glycol octyl phenyl ether is a kind of emulsifier, and the amount used has a great influence on the particle size and stability of the copolymer emulsion. Therefore, sodium lauryl sulfate is often used as a compound emulsifier. Generally, the ratio of the former to the latter is 1: 2. However, with the increase of the dosage, the stability of the emulsion will increase, but the fluidity and bonding strength of the compound adhesive will decrease accordingly. After a lot of experiments and use, it has been proved that when the amount of the two accounts for about 5% of the total amount of interpolymer, there is no agglomeration and good stability.

The amount of ammonium persulfate has a certain effect on the conversion rate of the unit and the viscosity of the emulsion. In the production, the amount is too small. The polymerization reaction is incomplete, the solid content does not meet the formula design requirements, the compound adhesive has low viscosity, and the smell is large; otherwise Cause bursting, polymerization reaction is difficult to control, etc.

2. Formula design of aluminum-plastic compound adhesive

Vinyl chloride vinyl acetate vinegar (1) 4.6%

104 resin (2) 18.3%

C9 resin (3) 7.5%

Coupling agent TM-P (4) O.6%

Mixed solvent (5) 79%

Total 100%

Component adjustment

The effect of the amount of aluminum-plastic composite adhesive on the bonding performance: the formula uses linear 2 resin as the main, 1 as the auxiliary resin, and uses the appropriate 5 to dissolve and mix. As the amount of 2 is increased, the adhesion will also increase, but when a certain amount is reached, there will be a tendency to decrease the adhesion, the brightness of the film will also decrease, and the viscosity will also increase and affect the sizing. The addition of 3 is to improve the holding force. If the amount is too large, the viscosity will decrease, the cohesion will increase, and the surface tension will become smaller. It is easy to produce wrinkles during sizing and coating, which leads to uneven compounding.

Effect of dosage on heat sealing strength: The ideal coating film state is to form a molecular layer on the surface of the ink aluminum foil to ensure that the ink molecules can be connected to 4 and the aluminum foil. Therefore, the dosage of 4 has an effect on the bonding strength. Generally, the addition of coupling agent can significantly improve the performance of ink, glue on aluminum foil and plastic film, and improve its bonding strength. On the other hand, when using a coupling agent, the corresponding coupling agent should be selected considering various ink colors.

The higher the thickness of the ink film of the ink, the stronger the bonding strength will be. This is because the mutual permeability of the ink and the compound adhesive is not good, so that the ink and the compound adhesive show different wet affinity to the aluminum foil, causing the compound to have a low bonding strength.

3. Formula design of water-type paper-plastic compound adhesive

Liquid acrylic resin 70%

Vinyl acetate 2O%

Water-based rosin emulsion 4.5%

Styrene emulsion 4.3%

Coupling agent 1%

XH-24 silicone oil 0.2%

The effect of pre-emulsification on the mixing reaction is that the formulation uses a commercially available liquid acrylic resin to make the reaction in the emulsion polymerization relatively stable, but the time for the secondary emulsification and aggregation of water, various emulsions, and acrylic resin is shortened.

The effect of tackifying resin on the performance of compound adhesive: styrene resin is usually the most. In terms of the bonding strength around the initial adhesion and thorough adhesion, especially in the peel strength direction, most of the self-made rosin is used as the tackifier of the composite adhesive system, and the cost is low.

4. Formula design of alcohol-soluble polyurethane compound adhesive

TOMMORROWPUR1010 30% ~ 35%

25% aldehyde ketone or polyvinyl butyral 5% ~ 10%

TU ~ 310 or epoxy resin 1% ~ 3%

Additives 3% ~ 4%

Mixed solvent (ethyl acetate, isopropanol, n-propanol) 50% ~ 60%

Total 100%

Component adjustment

We know that alcohol-soluble polyurethane compound adhesive is composed of polyisocyanate and polymer-modified isocyano acid, organic solvent, modified silane coupling agent and so on. Because the molecular chain contains isocyano groups and carbamates, it shows a high activity. It has high adhesion performance to various flexible packaging substrates. The polymer can form hydrogen bonds between macromolecules, with high strength, solvent resistance and wear resistance. The disadvantages are poor acid resistance, water resistance and aging resistance.

Characteristics of Alcohol Polyester Compound Adhesive

The main features of PUR1O1O series products are benzene and ketone-free, environmentally friendly and hygienic. The product itself does not contain benzene and ketone solvents, and has good alcohol solubility. In the process of sizing or in the manufacture and use of ink, all alcohol solvents can be used for dissolution and dilution. Therefore, it can be used as a linking material for benzene-free (ketone-free) inks, making alcohol-soluble surface printing or inside printing inks, and used for the packaging of food and pharmaceutical products such as environmental protection and hygiene requirements.

Typical uses of the product

TOM0RR0W PUR 1O1O series products have good adhesion to a variety of films, including PP, PE, PET, nylon, PVC, PVDC, aluminum foil and various aluminum-plated films, and are compatible with alcohol-soluble aldehyde and ketone resins and nitrocellulose Auxiliary resins such as cellulose resins are well-matched, soluble in various solvents and mixed solvents such as alcohols, esters, ketones, and hydroxyls, and have good dispersibility. The film has good gloss, high transparency and strong resistance to medium.

TOMORROW PUR 1O1O series products are excellent connecting materials for the manufacture of alcohol-based inks. They are suitable for compound adhesives, compound inks, alcohol-soluble inks, transparent inks, PET, NY special ink preparation. The inks can be used for flexo printing, concave printing It is used in printing of various types of printing, varnish, etc., with excellent printability, and the effect of shallow printing is particularly excellent. The disadvantage is that it has poor compatibility with other types of polyvinyl chloride resins and can only be used as a special resin for alcohol-soluble inks.
