First, the safety of sports floor coating
The slip resistance of the coating is not the better the coefficient of friction is. In the ASTM standard, it is specified that the coefficient of static friction coefficient of sports wood floor coatings is 0.5 or more.
The authors have found for many years that the amount of polyethylene wax dispersion in the blended product can be used to set the static friction coefficient within a certain range. Figure 3 shows the microstructure of the coated membrane surface. The tiny particles are polyethylene wax dispersions. Because the molecular weight of polyethylene is relatively small, “drift†occurs during film formation and is concentrated on the surface of the coating. The surface structure of this coating has a very positive effect on controlling the static friction coefficient of the surface, and the wax in the product is formulated. The amount of dispersion can flexibly control the coefficient of static friction of the coating.
When the wax content in the product was 0% and 5%, respectively, the static friction coefficient of the coating film was determined to be 0.47 and 0.58 on a PVC substrate by an ASTM (James Machine) method. Taking into account the anti-slip properties and other properties of the coating, the coating may be prepared with the appropriate wax content, and the static friction coefficient meets the standard. In the same way as the DIN 18032 method, the sliding friction coefficient of the products developed on sports wood flooring substrates is shown in Table 1, all within the range of 0.4 to 0.6 as required by the standard.
