The US Foreign Policy magazine reported that New York photographer David Levinsal used toy soldiers and miniature real-life models to recreate the brutal Iraq and Afghanistan war scenes. His group of photographs, titled "The Iraq War," is on display at the Cocoran Gallery in Washington, DC. (compile: shooter)
For more than 40 years, Levinsal has used the toy model to reproduce a series of war scenes, from the battle of Castel's last stronghold to the liberation of Berlin in World War II. In 2004, he first saw the Iraqi toy toy model on the Internet, and began collecting it for the creation of the Iraq War. Art critic Dave Hick pointed out that Levinsal's work presents the world of adults with things that belong to children, and more reveals the cruelty and terribleness of war.
