Threeding teamed up with Artec to model 3 endangered birds in 3D

Due to climate change, human reckless behavior and other unfortunate factors, every day on the planet, a precious species falls into the endangered list. According to statistics, more than 55 species of single birds worldwide are endangered. To protect these precious species, Threeding.com, the online 3D printing market, teamed up with leading 3D scanning equipment manufacturer Artec 3D to model 3D scans of these endangered birds and perform 3D printing.

To this end, the Threeding team used two Artec high-resolution scanners, Spider and Eva, to scan and convert the scanned data into a 3D model using Artec's proprietary Studio software. According to Tiangong, in order to ensure accuracy, this scan is based on educational models or specimens from various research institutions. The project aims to provide a group of veterinarians or biology students with an opportunity to reach out to endangered or extinct species that are difficult to find.

“We are very excited to be able to expand our library of 3D print models with these bird models.” Threeding co-founder Cveta Partaleva said: “Our goal is to make the Threeding website not only a consumer platform, but also 3D printing for education and research. An important resource platform for the model."

This time, Threeding and Artec 3D scanned and 3D modeled endangered birds including white-shouldered carvings, white-tailed sea eagle, northern owl, night heron, Humboldt penguin, and long-eared owl. In fact, throughout the month of April, these bird 3D models collected by these production teams will be available free of charge to all users on Threeding.com. In addition, Threeding is working with a range of museums on educational programs in paleontology, anatomy and archaeology, all of which will be announced in the near future.

According to Tiangong, Threeding.com was founded in 2013 by a group of students from the Bulgarian National Academy of Arts, which is dedicated to using 3D printing technology to enhance the educational and scientific experience of students around the world. Prior to this, the company also worked with Artec to scan and 3D model the ancient historical artifacts of some famous museums. ”
