The basic function of packaging
As we all know, packaging has seven functions: protecting commodities, beautifying commodities, saving costs, facilitating storage and transportation, facilitating measurement, guiding consumption, and increasing the added value of products. To sum up, there are two main purposes of packaging: one is to protect the goods, the other is to promote the sale of goods. The former is a functional purpose, embodies the essence of commodity packaging, must protect the goods; the latter is the purpose of value-added, it shows the charm and effectiveness of packaging, mainly from the role of sales promotion. Therefore, the packaging is generally divided into two major categories: transport packaging and sales packaging.
With the development of the national economy, the expansion of foreign trade and the improvement of people’s living standards, the demand for commodity packaging is increasing, and the demand for packaging is also increasing, especially with the development of market economy, For the buyer's market, the market is prone to the situation of supply and demand. Therefore, the demand for packaging sales promotion is becoming higher and higher.
overpacked
Although there are many functions of packaging, not all commodities need to be packaged to perform all their functions, but often according to their needs, they can perform certain major functions. For example, moon cake packaging is an example of products whose functions mainly include beautifying goods, guiding consumption, and increasing value-added functions. The moon cakes on the market are packaged with “naked†retail, packed in ordinary carton packs, and also have high-end gift packages that satisfy the consumer needs of people at different levels. Through well-designed, delicate container shapes, exquisite printing, and delicate patterns to bring out the image of moon cakes, packaging expresses closeness, admiration, thoughts, etc. to the recipient, and through packaging, to a large extent, it reflects our ancient and modern times. Culture. High-end gift wrap moon cakes are suitable for high-level consumer demand and have a market within a certain range. This is similar to the packaging of famous wines and famous teas. The high-end packaging of famous wines and famous teas reflects the wine culture and tea culture. Similarly, the high-end packaging of expensive moon cakes also reflects the moon cake culture. In ancient times, there was a story of “buying a beggar and returning a bead,†which meant that the work should not be reversed, but it also demonstrated the charm and effect of packaging. In the economically developed countries of Europe and the United States, some expensive goods, such as French perfumes, XO wines, etc. are also used in very high-end packaging.
The basic situation of China's packaging industry
Before the reform and opening up, China implemented a planned economy and the market economy was underdeveloped. For a long time, the packaging industry has a weak foundation, obsolete equipment, backward technology, and decentralized management. Since the reform and opening up, China's packaging industry has developed rapidly. Its growth rate is higher than that of the national economy, but it is still lagging behind the developed countries. In the economically developed countries, the packaging industry has a prominent position, even as a pillar industry. In the United States, the packaging industry ranks fifth among all industries in the national economy, second only to the construction industry, automobile industry, petrochemical industry, and information industry. In Germany, the packaging industry ranks sixth and China's packaging industry ranks 16th. Taking Jiangsu Province as an example, although the packaging industry in Jiangsu is relatively developed, the output value of the packaging industry ranks second in the country and accounts for about 1/6 of the total output value of the national packaging industry. However, the output value of the packaging industry in Jiangsu accounts for only about 2.2% of the total industrial output value of the province. This is far lower than the share of the packaging industry in developed countries. Therefore, accelerating the development of the packaging industry is the main direction and is the mainstream. We must make China a big packaging country and a strong packaging country as soon as possible.
Overpackaging
China Packaging Technology Association, entrusted by the State Economic and Trade Commission, is working on the formulation of "Several Opinions on Further Promoting the Development of China's Packaging Industry," which mentions the "Regulations on Commodity Packaging Management" as soon as possible. On this basis, tracking the status quo and development trends of foreign packaging legislation, combined with the actual situation in China, formulate and implement China's "Packaging Law" and "Packaging Waste Disposal Law." For over-packaging, laws and regulations have to be formulated in the future. First of all, we must clearly govern the purpose of excessive packaging, that is, reduce the burden on consumers and protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers. Excessive packaging is the result of certain commodity manufacturing companies blindly pursuing the interests of enterprises and excessively increasing the added value of goods regardless of social benefits and the interests of the people. According to relevant department statistics, the annual cost of moon cake manufacturers in China is as high as RMB 1 billion. The huge amount of excessive packaging costs is undoubtedly passed on to consumers. The phenomenon of over-packaging has been extended to areas such as nutritional products and health foods, which has caused consumers to spend a lot of money, helplessness, complaints, and strong reactions. In addition, excessive packaging will undoubtedly consume a lot of resources and cause some damage to the ecological environment. Taking Shanghai as an example, Shanghai produces about 1,000 boxes of mooncakes each year. If these moon cakes are not overpacked, they will consume about 400 to 600 trees with a DBH of 10 cm. What's more, the excessive packaging situation is so serious!
Second, we must consider the means of over-packaging, and we must formulate corresponding laws and regulations that clearly stipulate that excessive packaging is an illegal act and that excessive packaging is restricted by legal means. The first is to limit the proportion and the number of layers occupied by commodity packaging. For example, the volume of the packaging is controlled at 10-15% of the volume of the commodity (except for cushioned packaging); the second is to limit the cost of packaging of goods in the entire product, such as packaging costs. Controlled at 15%-20% of the cost of goods. The third is to levy a “return charge for waste products†for manufacturers that have already manufactured excessive packaging, collect a “garbage clean-up fee†for consumers who have discarded excessive packaging after purchasing over-packaged goods, and limit excessive packaging through taxation leverage.
In the management of excessive packaging, it is necessary to combine governance and guidance. The government and industry associations should strengthen guidance, increase propaganda, guide enterprises and the society to establish and strengthen the idea of opposing excessive packaging, and promote appropriate packaging so as to achieve the purpose of cost savings and resource conservation.
In short, we must use legal means, economic means, and administrative means to curb and eliminate excessive packaging of goods from all aspects.
A toilet is a piece of sanitary hardware that collects human urine and feces, and sometimes toilet paper, usually for disposal. Flush toilets use water, while dry or non-flush toilets do not. They can be designed for a sitting position popular in Europe and North America with a toilet seat, with additional considerations for those with disabilities, or for a squatting posture more popular in Asia (see squat toilet). In urban areas, flush toilets are usually connected to a sewer system that leads to septic tanks in isolated areas. The waste is known as blackwater and the combined effluent including other sources is sewage. Dry toilets are connected to a pit, removable container, composting chamber, or other storage and treatment device, including urine diversion with a urine-diverting toilet.
