[Abstract] When the color of the same color mixture is changed, when the thickness or the brightness of the lighting source changes, there will be changes in hue, brightness, and saturation. In this paper, through the experimental study of the change of color concentration (thickness), the color phenomenon of the same ink at different thicknesses is analyzed to discuss the effect of the ink layer thickness on the color rendering effect.

For the same ink, the color properties may change when the thickness of the ink layer changes. This will have a certain impact on the reproduction of printed colors, especially the control of spot colors for screen printing. Changes in the thickness of the ink layer have different effects on the color rendering of the primary, intermediate, and multi-color inks. The two intermediate colors are often darker when mixed, showing a dark color with a certain color tendency, or even black. How to explain the phenomenon of inter-color pigment mixing and color rendering, and what are the laws of inter-color mixing and color rendering are all issues that are worthy of in-depth discussion.
1. The color of the same ink layer when its thickness changes
The red ink and the green ink of the same weight of the intermediate color are mixed separately, and the mixed ink is sampled using the Dutch IGT C1 printing suitability tester (the ink is unchanged, only the amount of ink is changed) to obtain the same ink printing. The color samples of different ink layer thickness are shown in Figure 1. The thickness of the ink layer is determined by analyzing the balance and weighing the weight of the printing disc before and after printing. Table 1 is the test data of the color change when the thickness of the ink layer changes after different inks are mixed. Their hue and saturation are reflected on the CIE xy chromaticity diagram, as shown in FIGS. Partially enlarged view.
Table 1 Test data of ink coloration when the thickness of the ink layer changes
Note: First mix the ink, use the Dutch IGT C1 printing suitability tester to sample the mixed ink (the ink is unchanged, only the amount of ink is changed, the unit of the amount of ink is ml), and the same ink is printed different Color sample of ink layer thickness. Use SC-1 intelligent color measurement color difference meter to measure data. The ink used is Tiens brand.
