PLAM EX Develops Film Extrusion Technology

In a newly developed extrusion system, PLAM EX combines the casting and finishing processes.
Packaging materials for volatile foods such as meat, sausages, ham, and cheese products should provide a scent and scent barrier, moisturizing to prevent the contents from drying out, resistance to grease, and taste neutralization; optical properties such as transparency and gloss Degrees, capable of printing and easy labeling; mechanical properties such as toughness and bending strength, thermoforming and closable, can be processed at high speeds on modern packaging machines.
In previous years, the polyamide-polyethylene double-layer film dominated the market. At present, it tends to be five to seven layers of composite materials, and in fact, the market can even find nine to eleven thin film products. Most of these multilayer films are produced by bimetallic extrusion. Bimetallic extrusion processes are increasingly used in the direct production of three to seven layers of composite materials. Taking into account the growing market demand, there is a need to develop polyethylene materials for film production. As a result, developed a high-viscosity PA6 product, mainly used for flat film thickness 25 ~ 150mm, in particular to pull out the thickness greater than the required thickness of the polyethylene layer; medium viscosity polyethylene 6 varieties, mainly used to make thinner Film rolled by cold rolling, with a thickness ranging from 15 to 60mm.
The special need for these polyethylene 6 varieties lies in the aspect of bimetal extrusion flat membranes because their main low density polyethylene varieties used for this purpose are similar in rheology. Copolyamides are almost exclusively limited to the production of bimetallic extrusion blown films. The coagulation crystallization rate of the copolymer in the cooling stage is significantly lower than that of the pure polyethylene 6 product. Most barrier films are produced by casting film extrusion. The main reasons include high productivity, control of film quality standards, film properties that can be influenced by process parameters, and the possibility of material combinations being specific films. In order to meet the large variety and thickness range of polymer composites (15 to 350 microns and above), PLAM EX combined casting and finishing in a newly developed extrusion system.
