GMG FlexoProof - High Terminal Proofing for Printing/Packaging

New standards for flexo and packaging printing

Flexo printing is a significant change from standard offset printing, especially in terms of the number of photosensitive photographic prints and spot colors. Therefore, a higher standard of color digital proofing is required.

For many years, GMG has always been the supreme standard in this field. With the introduction of GMG FlexoProof 04, a product specially designed for flexo and packaging printing, the standard has reached new heights.

Simulated grayscale curves and dot gains

In GMG FlexoProof, spot colors can be copied and dot gains can be generated under any printing conditions. At the same time, the 1-bit data still remains unchanged from the halftone dots originally obtained from the plate processor or CTP RIP, providing a high-precision workflow. Any linearized curve in a CTP system that is not related to proofing can be converted to a standardized result. Print dot expansion is easily displayed on proofs.

Integration with other workflows

FlexoProof is easy to integrate in an automated workflow. For example, the correct proof data can be automatically written into the “hot folder” and sent to the processor or CTP for processing without re-rasterizing the data.

Spot color and opacity control

FlexoProof also includes GMG SpotColor applications and the perfect solution for spot color management. FlexoProof supports all standard spot color systems, such as HKS or Pantone spot color libraries shipped with the product.
Using a special algorithm, any spot color overprint can be accurately calculated and printed. This technique is particularly important for the use of Duplex or color modes like HexaChrome. With the FlexoProof solution, color opacity and related printing sequences can be specified on demand. Even white shading can be specified as a spot color.

Photographic film copy

Special print carrier structures, such as paper fibers or corrugated cardboard structures, can be specified in the system and replicated on proofs. The basic color of the carrier can also be reproduced. You can also simulate actual printing conditions, such as printing colorful images on low-quality paper.

Finding network problems early
In addition to the prepress data formats that can handle almost all industry standards, FlexoProof can also handle the final 1-bit data, such as data from a plate processor or CTP RIP. These data are all color managed using the original reserved network information instead of the de-networked information. This allows errors such as color tones, moiré and traps to be detected early before the plate is exposed.

Combined with flexo and packaging printing workflows

The GMG FlexoProof solution can be integrated in many different workflows. In particular, it can be tightly integrated into the Nexus and Esko Graphics workflows and use a fully supported native data format. The final 1-bit rasterized halftone dot data can be used for the final carrier or plate product without the need for repeated RIP processing, thus ensuring a true ROOM (multiple RIP output at a time). Even at the proofing stage, coarse dots in offset printing using this method can be reliably reproduced.
