Japan Develops New Glass Manufacturing Process to Reduce Emissions from Production

In July 2003, Japan's Asahi Glass Company developed a new glass manufacturing process called "vacuum pressure degassing method", which can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide produced in the current glass production process by half.
In this method, a pressure reduction tank is installed after the melting furnace process. When the glass solution passes through the pressure reduction tank, bubbles that affect the quality are forcibly removed. The improvement of this process reduces the furnace temperature of the melting furnace from 1600°C to 1450°C. At the same time, it also uses the technology of burning oxygen to reduce the use of heavy oil by half, and improve the fuel's combustion efficiency, so that the carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by half accordingly.
