Japan's first interpretation of eukaryotic full-gene information

Professor Yosaki Nozaki of the Graduate School of the University of Tokyo, Japan, and the head of the Changxiang Center of Black Rock, Rikkyo University's Extreme Life Intelligence Research Center, announced on the 23rd that they successfully interpreted the entire gene information of a eukaryote for the first time in the world, about 2 billion years ago The original plant "primitive red algae" was born.

The research team had previously interpreted 99.98% of the gene sequences of this eukaryotic gene, and this time it successfully interpreted the remaining 46 pairs of difficult-to-align base sequences.

After the genetic sequence of the original red algae, the mitochondria and chloroplasts with unique genes have been sequenced, scientists can understand the original red algae gene sequence design. Almost all living things, including humans, are composed of eukaryotic cells. The completion of eukaryotic gene sequencing has an important role in understanding the birth of life, the evolution of organisms, and the understanding of basic life phenomena such as cell composition and division. In the future, the research team will also sequence the relatives of eukaryotes.

The research results were published in the electronic version of "Biomedicine" magazine.
