The wheat kernels were placed in a petri dish with a lid and scanned using a Brimrose AOTF-NIR Luminar 2030 "free space" spectrometer. Rotate the sample after the scan starts to get a better average result. Sample 097 was randomly scanned repeatedly 6 times throughout the time necessary to collect the full number of spectra. 100 scans (~ 10 seconds) are averaged to obtain a spectrum. The fast spectrometer can scan each spectrum ~ 300 times in about 10 seconds.
